Central to this process are a comprehensive literature review, a carefully planned research design, and a thoroughly justified rationale for the work.
Senior students majoring in History may be eligible to complete an Honours Thesis within the department and earn the corresponding designation on their official transcripts and degree parchments. Specific Course Objectives The course is designed to develop scholarly skills in a variety of areas that are central to the research process, including: Normally, the students give an oral presentation summarizing the thesis.
Students who write an Honours Thesis will be required to give a public presentation on their research at the end of the spring semester.

Undergraduate Thesis History — Six Credit Hours Senior students majoring in History may be eligible to complete an Honours Thesis within the department and earn the corresponding designation on lethbgidge official transcripts and degree parchments.
Oral Component – a formal oral presentation is required demonstrating the ability to articulate clearly the nature of the thesis undertaken, the research methodology, and the results of the thesis.
The complete thesis will be read by the faculty advisor and universith second evaluator, the thesis reader another faculty member. Thesis Dissemination All students will submit three bound copies of their final thesis and one electronic version to the Department.
Once the thesis has been completed, it will be added to the collections of the University library. Course Format Much of the work for the honours thesis will be conducted independently by students and will occur outside the context of structured class meetings.

Honours Theses Guidelines
In order to receive the ‘Honours Thesis’ designation, students must maintain a term GPA of at least 3. There are two criteria that are the basis for the final assessment for your thesis: The prospective student must present lethbrivge thesis proposal to be approved by the supervisor and the Dhillon School of Business Honours Committee prior to registration in the course.

The students identify an appropriate research question, develop a systematic research plan to address it, and then execute this plan themselves, collecting, analyzing and interpreting the resulting data, and writing them up in standard scholarly format the thesis.
Written Component – the undergraduate thesis must be a sustained piece of approved research demonstrating a superior level of academic ability on the specified topic. Students who satisfy these criteria, and are interested in writing an Honours Thesis, should first of all discuss potential thesis topics with a professor who has agreed to supervise them. Each prospective candidate for the Undergraduate Thesis course is responsible for obtaining support from a faculty supervisor.
Both thesix should be prepared in consultation with the supervisor, who will offer assistance and direction to the student.
